Bali’s oldest beach resort retains its reputation as a glamorous alternative to nearby Kuta. The coastline of Sanur has a long stretch of white sand lined with restaurants and bars. It is tailor made for chic clientele or families wanting to relax in an exclusive resort or villa without the need to party into the wee hours.
Sanur is also a popular day trip destination for tourists staying in Kuta looking to do some water sports. There are many companies offering diving along its submerged outer reef, jet skiing on top of its blue waters or paragliding in the cool breezes above this ocean paradise.
The shoreline features a cycle path that is also perfect for walking and jogging. At its very northern tip is the ferry terminal that offers boat trips to Nusa Lembongan, a small island off the southeast coast of Bali that is famous for its laid-back atmosphere.
Sanur has its fair share of markets providing an impressive range of artistic handicrafts such as wood carvings and batik paintings. Best of these are the Sindhu Market and the daytime beachfront market.
Sanur is the closest beach to the island’s capital, Denpasar, with its many temples and museums. Booking.com has a range of hotels along Sanur Beach or close to Ngurah International Airport, also known as Denpasar International Airport.
Sanur was great. Relaxed, a little quieter than Legian.
Sanur was great. Relaxed, a little quieter than Legian. Lots of restaurants, good shopping and the beaches are much nicer. There is a walking track along the beach for runners, walkers and bike riders. You don't get hassled as much on this side of the island. Will definitely come back.

Its a place for retirees-its like countryside -night time my Indonesian friends really did not like -we moved to Legion after two nights -I wont go in to the specifics of what old guy at Sanur Lodge said to my Indonesian friends when we checked in -but he is lucky I did not understand -it offended them deeply . We tried to go to an Indian Restaurant down the street from Hotel -had open kitchen food looked great but a 1.5 hour wait ? at 7.30pm -they told us had 200 gofood orders to deal with first-probably true? My kind advice avoid Sanur

If you want somewhere to go to just relax this is the place.
If you want somewhere to go to just relax this is the place. Sanur is a quiet chilled area but you can still easily organise tours from there. There are plenty of places to eat or sit to have a drink or a coffee, and you can go into Kuta, Canggu or Legian for some nightlife clubbing.

Sanur is one of the quieter beaches in Bali.
Sanur is one of the quieter beaches in Bali. The tide goes a long way, so sometimes it is unsuitable for swimming. It is a good place to paddleboard. There are many restaurants and bars along the beach. I have noticed many families, so I assume it is a good place for people to travel with children. There is a long walking/cycling path along the beach.

The perfect location in Bali.
The perfect location in Bali. Not as hectic as the east coast(Kuta to Canggu)more of a village atmosphere but still has all of the amenities. Lots of great quality inexpensive restaurants both on the beach and on Jalan Danau Tanblingan. A few cheeky nightclubs with live music.
Good shopping, massages, 6km paved walking path along the beach.
Ideal for a great relaxing holiday for couples and families.

Very laid back and relaxed compared to the noise, hustle and bustle you would experience in Kuta and Legian. Less crime. Easier to get around as not a lot of traffic (scooters or motor bikes). A lot cleaner and streets are better maintained to walk around. Beach sand/water very nice not a lot of rubbish around. Locals are really lovely and friendly, there was no aggressiveness or nasty locals at all. Prices are slightly higher in Sanur compared to Kuta and Legian but not substantially higher. Bars are not filled with young drunken loafs making a nuisance of themselves. Drink and food service very efficient. Suggest Sanur best for elderly folk as less riff raff. In future I would stay in Sanur than go to Kuta or Legian.
The clean, modern, functional, spacious, comfortable room with great amenity. The friendly, professional, courteous staff who always go above and beyond to satisfy one's needs and requirements. Wayan and his team were excellent as ever. My fourth stay at Bali Bubble with family each time for about a week. It may be a little out of the way in terms of Sanur proper but in every other respect I believe it outshines most other hotels for value and satisfaction. Great pool too that all of the family can enjoy.
The hotel is located in a quiet street in Sanur, the ambience of the hotel is really peaceful, the public pool feels like a private pool since there was nobody else there.
The place was quiet but the staffs are always ready to help us, and was very friendly and alwaya greeted us, which made us feel like at home.
There are also lots of food options around the hotel, which can be ordered by ride-hailing apps, and the staffs kindly delivered it to our room.
Super recommended for those who seek a peaceful stay.
Nice hotel on the beach. The rooms are large and comfortable. Two large pools that are not too busy. Direct access to the beach with plenty of sun loungers. Breakfast buffet has a lot of choice, local and international food. The staff is very friendly and always smiling. We’ve read some negative comments before booking but honestly it was very nice and the perfect end to our 3 weeks trip to Bali. For the price we paid it met all our expectations and I would not hesitate to recommend the hotel.
We only stayed one night, but we wished we had planned our trip just to get at least one extra night. The hotel is beautiful, lovely pool area, beautiful very modern room (especially compared to other places we’ve stayed in Bali), comfortable and clean. Great location too 5 minutes from the beach and about 30 minutes walk to Sanur beach and town centre and there’s so many places to eat along the beach front and in the town. Just overall really lovely.
It's a boutique hotel off a main road and 20 minutes walk from the beach. Despite the road location it was exceptionally quiet and peaceful - so dead easy to travel to/from but you need transport. I liked the walk through the alleyways around the Sanur neighbourhood but some might prefer to be on the beach.
Just renovated but kept oldie-worldie character however all clean and fresh. Lovely jogolos for cottage accommodation. Good pool.
We loved the Balinese style of the hotel. The grounds well kept and the staff are wonderful. The other travellers we met at the hotel have been coming to this hotel for years and were so helpful with recommending places to eat and see. My husband and I cannot say enough about Ketut, he arranged transportation to our next stop and again just amazing.
The staff were divine, the place was old, rustic and very Bali. Just how I like it.
It has lovely pools to swim in and sun beds facing the water.
Sanur is delightful with lovely restaurants on the beach. Balinese families swimming in the morning and plenty of restaurants.
It’s my new favourite place. Shhhh don’t tell any one ❤️
This hotel is amazing - the gardens are absolutely incredible, traditional style rooms that have a modern take, right on the beach, great restaurants, it feels like a complete oasis but you are still so close to everything in Sanur. I was also given a complimentary upgrade to a suite and it was just perfect.
The location of this property was perfect being close to all services you need, restaurants and was right on the beach. The resort had a gorgeous layout, with the pools and gym being a highlight. The ambience of the hotel as well as the service of the staff made this stay feel very luxurious and relaxing
We loved the style of the hotel. We don’t like large resorts, we are more comfortable in old style Bali hotels. Respati is well maintained and very clean.
It is in a wonderful location right on the beach.
Even though there is a huge building project next door we didn’t hear construction noise.
A beautiful Balinese style hotel in Sanur, equipped with a restaurant, breakfast buffet, and two beautiful pools. The premises are beautiful and the rooms are spacious and comfortable.
The staff is cheerful and very helpful while assisting in what you need.
Highly recommended!
this is a great old style bali hotel under the proces of renovating the rooms comfortable place to stay 2 mins from the beachwalk with resturants and warungs just out the door is the main road great little shop for drinks etc on the roundabout
So quiet! This was such a big highlight, as the villa is tucked away down a long alley. Excellent location in Sanur, private access through another hotel to the beach, very comfortable bed and pillows, beautiful pool and great kitchen
The old bali feel to the hotel, excellent and attentive staff. Great location, relaxing pool area and right on the beach with great views.
Felt totally relaxed for our whole stay. Will definitely be back.
It's a little paradise for couples in Sanur, greatly recommended! Villas with private pools offer relaxation, luxury and privacy. The staff is really forthcoming and friendly. Great amenities.
The Mercure Sanur is right on the beach so the location is great for a chill holiday. There are some nice restaurants near by and a good yoga studio that runs classes daily on site
Very good. It was the only hotel for around $100 with non-parfum bed linen. As allergic, it's a big problem for me. All hotels cheaper than $100 have smelling bed linen in Sanur.
