Very comfortable room right next to the water - the view is spectacular! Room is exactly how it is described in the listing - basic but comfortable and clean, all you need if you plan to spend a lot of time outdoors exploring as I did. The staff were lovely! The nice lady on reception (I forgot to ask her name) gave me great recommendations for local restaurants, walking tracks and good places to see. Not sure why this place has some poor reviews, if you want luxury then this isn’t for you but honestly it had everything you need for a short comfortable stay! And the location is 100/10 - a 5 minute walk through the tunnel to the old town of Monterosso and the beach literally at your doorstep. No aircon but the huge windows give more than enough beautiful see breeze to make up for this!
Featuring a terrace and garden, Hotel La Colonnina offers accommodation in Monterosso al Mare. Guests can enjoy a continental breakfast daily, buffet-style.

Giovanni was an amazing host. A very friendly and helpful person. The property is tucked away nicely in Monterosso old town with a balcony terrace that feels like a very quiet and calming oasis away from the busier Main Street below. We used this for breakfast, and also in the afternoon to relax. We’d stay again without a doubt.

Beautiful place very good for reaching all the other cinque terra villages. Has a lovely beach front and a charming old town. Excellent train connection and reasonable boat trips too. Perfect holiday destination whatever you want to do. Walk the trails, lie on the beach. Visit local area by train and you certainly must try the ice cream in each town you visit.

The most amazing relaxing place to visit. Would highly recommend to anyone considering visiting to just do, you won’t regret it. Of all the Cinque Terra villages it’s definitely the best followed by Vernezza.

It is a lovely town and a great place to stay if you want to explore Cinque Terre. You can combine a hiking/cycling holiday with a beach holiday. The train service is excellent and if you don't want to hike you can explore all 5 towns by train.
Monterosso itself has pleny to see apart from beaches and the restaurants are excelelnt, especially if you like seafood.

This was the best of our accommodations during our 2 week stay in Italy. Marta was amazing and provides shuttles and a good breakfast of granola, yogurt, fruit, pastries and even eggs, pancakes and cappuccino. The views were amazing and the rooms were very comfortable. I prefer a softer bed than what was in the room. However the pillows and linen were soft and comfortable.
Marta goes above and beyond what is necessary and always greeted us with a smile
I would definitely stay here again.
The b and b is up on a hill and a shuttle is provided but we walked back and forth without difficulty into the main part of town.

Attractive village, but split into two by headland (tunnel links the two). All amenities, but slightly spread out. Good (but when we visited, busy) train links to other Cinque Terre villages. Also boat links if weather ok. We found it an ideal base for exploring Cinque Terre, including walking the SVA (Blue Path), albeit walking is challenging. Scenery to die for.

The walk from Montorosso to Vanassari (SP) is very steep at each town with difficult steps.up and down. It is very beautiful but requires excellent balance and footwork for 300 meter of climbing at each town. The towns are special and the food is even better.

The location was perfect for a holiday in Cinque Terre. It was five minutes walk from Monterosso train station and the road leading to the hotel was flat. Going up to the hotel itself though, there was a steep climb for about a 80 metres with some steps towards the entrance.
The breakfast was excellent and one particular member of staff, Aretta was super friendly and made sure I got my eggs the way I like it. I stayed in for dinner one evening, and that was very good value for money at €30 for a 5 course meal.
We were very well received, assisted with luggage and shown around the premises. Beautiful garden and an onsite bar was nice to have. Most probably the best breakfast we had in Italy, Location was a short walk from the station. Due to nature of Cinque Terre, be prepared to have to climb some stairs and walk up a hill, but nothing too bad. Lots of nice restaurants and shops within a two-minute walk. Close to the beach. Hotel provides beach towels. We spent one night in Monterosso.
Breakfast was perfect! Location was not a problem for us since the hotel has its own shuttle bus/service car that takes you to the Monterosso beach entrance. All of the staff were very friendly. Anna even suggested routes to take to explore the Monterosso.
Manarola Village was the best amongst the 5 for me. Porto Venere, not one of the 5 villages, but we visited as recommended by Anna, and we loved it! One shouldn't miss this place when visiting Cinque Terre.
Our room had a balcony with a beautiful view, as did the breakfast area. Additionally, the property has a communal “panoramic terrace’ with a few tables & chairs & a few chaise lounge chairs. The setting was beautiful & tranquil. The location was a short walk from the beach & the train station. One thing to be aware of, is that there are steps on the outside of the property. Our stay at Hotel Villa Steno was wonderful. We were so happy with our choice.
Andrea was the perfect host. He greeted us upon arrival, gave us a thorough explanation of the grounds and our room, and provided us with a detail sheet of recommendations. Speaking of his recommendations, I highly recommend his ‘one’ day in Cinque Terre. The hotel room was tidy and cleaned daily. It was a three minute walk to the beach and less than 60 seconds to the old town square. I highly recommend this place.
The location was in clean, more quiet spot in Monterosso, which, after visiting a few of the other towns, agreed was the best location in the Cinque Terre. The staff was thoughtful and kind. They let us keep our luggage at the hotel while we toured the area. The breakfast was plentiful and quite good, especially the artisan tarts. Our room for 4 people was a good size and was very clean.
The location of the property was amazing! Close to the station and Monterosso was a gorgeous place to stay. The host, Stefano, was a lovely man and allowed us to keep our luggage at the hotel all day, as well as the use of the facilities and bedroom. The breakfast was very yummy. All facilities were perfectly clean. Our stay was very comfortable. Highly recommend
Monterosso is probably one of the most beautiful places I have been to. The hotel is centrally located. We were there in June, very busy, beautiful weather, but in the evening the crowds ease up, the bar next to the hotel is brilliant as was the restaurant next door. Just a beautiful part of the Italy and the world. Would highly highly recommend.
Hotel is well situated in Monterosso in a very quiet street but very close to restaurants and the beach about an 8 minute walk from the train station. Breakfast is great with a man excellent choice, fantastic table of sweets stuff and cakes. Staff were amazing and so helpful. Lovely wee bar and you can take your drinks to the 4th floor gardens.
The room is big and clean. It is on the hill of Monterosso so away from all the tourists, but it is also only a 5 min walk to the train station. It is a quite room and we cannot hear our neighbors. And they have a private yard with garden chairs and everything (and also 2 cute cats). The people at the hotel were also super nice.
lovely hotel in the pretty back streets of Monterosso. great location, lovely breakfast in the roof garden and clean and comfortable rooms. A short walk to the beach and just minutes from the restaurant and shops.
we also did a boat tour which they recommended with Edo and it was amazing.
Great hotel in great location. There is a small refrigerator and tea pot in the room. The owner Albergo is very friendly, he gave us all the information about Monterosso and Cinque Terre, he helped us a lot. We are very thankful and definitely recommend this hotel for everyone.
Close to the station, and not in an uphill climb.
Excellent breakfast, friendly staff. Good minimarket and excellent restaurants close to the hotel.
Monterosso al Mare and this hotel are the places to stay in Cinque Terre
proximity to the beach, location, owners. was an awesome home base in the cinque terre, easy to the train and great for just soaking up some sun on the beach. owners are very friendly and helpful
We loved this hotel, spotlessly clean, and an easy walk from Monterosso train station.Lovely breakfast,a variety of items.Nice bar area to have a drink when you returned after a day exploring!
I travel to Italy a lot and this was the BEST all around hotel. Lovely room, sparkling clean and all staff were exceptionally welcoming, friendly, and accommodating. Recommend highly!
Great location right on the beach. They have their own set of tables on the boardwalk and beach area. Breakfast was very nice and staff was very friendly and helpful.
location is right on the beach front of Monterosso and was perfect for our stay in Cinque Terre. The room had a beautiful view and the owner was super hospitable.
