The Fisherman's Wharf was interesting with the nicely decorated houses people live in and the lovely hot donuts we ate there. We enjoyed walking around the downtown, having lunch at the Irish Times, walking through the Empress Hotel, and taking a water taxi to Milestones for our dinner. I wish that I could have visited longer and see Emily Carr's house but it was closed at the time. Victoria is a lovely city and James Bay Village is quaint and my favourite place to walk.MargaretCanada - 10Scored 10

Beautiful city with many places within walking distance. Don't miss Butchart Gardesn, Fisherman's warf and the parliament building at night. we had two dogs so meals at fishermans warf were the best and most accomodating. Our stay was too short but it gave us enough ideas for a longer return trip. totally worth it!

Victoria is a great city to visit for a walking visit. Don't bother with a car - parking is expensive or non-existent. Skip the tourist shops on Government Street (except Murchies Teas). Beacon Hill Park is nice especially in spring or summer. The walk around the waterfront presents some interesting views. The Royal British Columbia Museum is a great place to learn about the history of western Canada. Overall, a nice, comfortable place to visit with slight British flavor.

We travel to a hotel using the BC transit bus (from Victoria Swartz Bay terminal to Downtown). The bus stop is next to the hotel. We stayed at the hotel for one night, and the beds were perfect. At the check-in, the staff is super friendly. They allowed us to keep our bags in a safe room before checking. Therefore, we didn't carry them when we travelled to the downtown area.
