Lovely little town with canals and picturesque corners. Great museum and art gallery and also other independent art spaces like the outstanding Ketel factory. Easily walkable across town to the station and close to Rotterdam.

Schiedam is somewhat of a hidden gem in The Netherlands.
Schiedam is somewhat of a hidden gem in The Netherlands. As suburban city close to the gigantic harbor of Rotterdam it often gets overlooked. However, this is not fair towards this beautiful city with its reminders that go back to the golden ages of shipbuilding and trade in The Netherlands. The relative small center has some of the best preserved canals of any city in The Netherlands with scenic houses and old sailing boats. There are plenty of restaurants and it is very calm compared to Amsterdam. If you want to see real Dutch old cities, go to places like Schiedam. It has the biggest windmills in the world and is famous for its liquor Jenever. A trip well worth.

Although we were tourists, we did not feel that Schiedam was 'over-touristy'. We loved the antiquity and authenticity of the town. The library, for example was fantastic!
We thought the audio tour was very informative and the visits to the Walvisch and Jenever Museums were very interesting and well presented.
We loved the trip on the Fluisterboot and the guide had a wonderful sense of humour!
We ate well, especially at the Stadshuis Restaurant where the service and the meal was exceptional.
The public transport was excellent. We used our OV cards extensively on the trains, trams and metro.
We booked the hotel on the same day as we had another hotel booked which was a disaster and we could not spend the night in and so we booked this hotel in just 5 minutes. We had a 25 minutes walk with luggages. The hotel was very clean and comfortable. The only problem is that restaurant was not open and was a problem finding somewhere else to eat at that time. The area is very nice and quite. Only problem is that it was far from everywhere but still a ice experience.
B&B Museumkvartier is bang in the middle of the elegant and charming historic town of Schiedam, which is worth visiting for its canals, windmills and old distillery buildings. It is also very convenient for popping into Rotterdam with its big-city attractions. The accommodation at B&B Museumkvartier is excellent, the breakfasts generous, the coffee top-notch, and the owners friendly and informative. Thoroughly recommended.
Generally we love Van der Valk hotels, and will definitely come again.
Lovely room, parking, great breakfast. And most important for us - pool with sounas on the top floor with fantastic view. Schiedam branch seems new / renovated.
Besides that check out was at 12, and not at 11 as mentioned on booking.
I have always dreamed to live in the hotel on the water, the view is wonderful. Rotterdam is close to the location. Hosts are very caring, you have everything you need on the way. There is a common kitchen, we bought fish and srimps on the market and cooked. Really enjoy the time.
The location was convenient for what I needed. The hotel itself was very clean and well ordered. The top storey pool was delightful. The breakfast was probably one of the best experienced; a small detail I suppose but excellent. The staff were extremely good.
The hotel was in a beautiful location on the Lange Haven canal in the centre of old Schiedam, just outside Rotterdam. The hotel itself was very beautiful; the staff couldn't have been more helpful, and the breakfast was perfect.
Very friendly, helpful, and welcoming staff. Great pub with good atmosphere. Have stayed there before and will be returning again soon. Fantastic position and clean environment. 10 out of 10 in every way. My favourite hotel/bar.
The decor and vibe of the whole place was very nice. The bathroom was especially impressive, as it wasn't the typical basic white hotel bathroom we're all used to seeing. The staff at reception were very friendly and welcoming.
Very nice and comfortable in the center of schiedam at the canals and plenty of restobars around. Shops at 10 min walking distance. Much space in the apartment. Greatly decorated. Great hosts!
Everything. The attention to detail is superb, the location and views from the rooms are just charming. Definitely would choose again and recommend to anyone visiting Schiedam.
Really cute hotel. The room was huge with a small kitchen. All clean. Trains to rotterdam and den haag go every 15 min and you walk 15min to the train station.
The decorations, the attention to detail and the overall good vibes. We loved staying here and will most definitely stay again next time we visit Rotterdam
