This property is outstanding. It sits way above the town of Minca and the views are spectacular. As everyone says you do need a 4x4 to get there but the hotel can help you arrange. We were travelling as a family of 5 and I didn’t feel comfortable with my kids on the back of the moto taxis, but the 4x4s are very available too.
The restaurants offers simple but lovely meals and and the cabins seemed new and well cared for.
Everyone in my family agreed this was the highlight of our trip.

It was an unforgettable experience walking through nature, seeing the rivers and waterfalls. The variety of birds, the tranquility of being surrounded by so many sounds, breathtaking sunsets. I truly enjoyed the whole experience and place. Will do it again, highly recommended.

Lovely place to see birds, swim in some waterfalls, have some good coffee and chocolate on farms, get some craft beer. Very hot though— stay hydrated and pack sunscreen. I would recommend this place and advise hiking around to enjoy the nature.

Loved Minca so much.
Loved Minca so much. The town feels very catered to tourists and it was hard to find a cheap, local restaurant with a menu del dia for example but there are lots of good western-ish options and the wildlife/surrounding area is so beautiful. Highly recommend the Cerro Kennedy hike (stay at El Ramo) too.

Minca is a fantastic place to visit to get a sense of the mountainous area of Colombia and its lush and alluring jungle with all the glory of its flora and fauna. Only a short drive from the Santa Marta airport, you find ourself in a little village that is a haven to hikers, motocross bikers, and bird watchers. There are many places to eat with a variety of cuisines and for the most part the food was good. Our favorite activity was birdwatching. We had fantastic outings booked through Jungle Joe. Our guides Tony Martin and Gustavo Viloria were both extremely professional and informed. We loved the La Vittoria Coffee Plantation tucked away in the jungle. Another favorite was Rio Elemento, a hotel/restaurant on the banks of the river with an awesome swing that carries you over the rushing waters.

It is very pretty and I appreciated the access to other types of food since we had been traveling the Colombia for a bit and had been exclusively eating traditional colombian food. You cannot speak about Minca without mentioning the bugs, they are terrible! the worse part is you don’t really see them or know when you are being bit. You just look down and your legs are covered in bites. Also there is a new age spirituality vibe that is strongly felt in the town.

It’s not a party town but it’s beautiful, scenic, has lovely waterfalls! Nice place to wind down after long hikes. Either take mototaxis everywhere is you don’t want to walk or hike! Ask for a helmet!
The location is amazing, it features an oriel looking at Santa Marta and the sea, where you are offered to watch the sunset, get some drinks (at a reasonable price) and enjoy the fire in the evening. Meals offered are a bit above average for Colombia, though juice is not included so the full meal tends to be a bit pricey, which might be understandable due to the location. Staff is beyond friendly and welcoming. Facilities are well decorated, you can walk in a private trail to a small waterfall. In short, a place to return.
Beautiful hostel!! You opt in for meals (no common kitchen) but the food was probably the best I’ve had in Colombia, and all vegetarian, which was a pleasant surprise! Great portion sizes and very well priced. Lots of activities around. Awesome view. Fantastic Stay! The hostel is located up on a mountain so it is something to consider when looking to do activities in town (that’s why you get the amazing sunset view). Very easy moto ride to town and lots to do at the hostel so we didn’t really feel the need to leave.
One if our favourite places to stay at in all of Colombia! We would gladly go back any time. If you don’t mind walking a bit up hill and through the forest to get there, you are rewarded with tranquility and peace. It’s a 20 minute walk from the centre of Minca on the way to Marinka waterfalls. You are surrounded by nature and Nore and Carlo are super lovely and attentive hosts. There is a small bridge crossing the river now. Having a flash light is essential in order to find your way around at night.
Spectacular views of the Sierra Nevada Mountains. Really great hospitality....a lovely breakfast each morning. The grounds have a couple places to hang out and there is a small pool and jacuzzi down the hill by the river. It's around a 15 minute walk to the main street, however, there are other hostels nearby to get food and drinks since the hotel only offers breakfast. If you don't want to walk you can arrange a motor bike taxi to take you to and from - what a wonderful weekend in Minca!
Amazing service ! The rooms are huge with clean toilets and an amazing mountain view in the day. The staff are a small family that helped us with all our requests. I needed a laptop for an interview and the owner lent me his. His mother made my partner coffee in the morning (complimentary) and they even let us leave our bags for a couple of hours after check out. If you are in Minca you should definitely stay here. Also the WiFi is very good
10/10 overjoyed with this hotel
This hostel was without a doubt the best hostel we have stayed in during our three weeks in Colombia. The physical space of the place is better described as a small, lively nature park than a hostel. Incredible nature, animal life, service and an amazing staff. The place was rather empty, which was a big surprise to us given the luxurious quality and affordable pricing. We had a great time with lots of peace, serenity, hiking and socialising with the wonderful staff.
Beautiful setting and amazing panoramic views of the rainforest. Probably the best place we stayed in Colombia. It was faultless.
We woke up to humming birds by our window and you could hear and see monkeys and all types of nature from our room.
Even the taxi ride, albeit quite expensive at £20, was part of the fun and well worth the money. Its like a theme park ride the journey.
What a beautiful spot, right on the river. We loved being able to walk down to the river for a swim, so refreshing for the hot afternoons in Minca. The rooms are clean and modern, with air conditioning, a super comfortable bed and lots of space! Loved having breakfast overlooking the river. We sadly only had one night here, would have loved to stay longer.
This place is exceptional. We stayed in a private double room and we had great big windows overlooking the jungle. Very private and comfortable. The food was some of the best we’ve had in Colombia. The yoga of a morning was free and the perfect way to start the day. We could have stayed here a lot longer. It was one of our Colombian highlights.
The location was quiet and had amazing views of the mountains, but was close enough to walk to the center of Minca. The staff was friendly and helpful and communicative. They offer a delicious breakfast for a great price. It is exactly what I was looking for to relax and enjoy nature. Thank you Luce and staff! And two cute cats.

Great view, cosy common areas and the friendliest hosts I've had the pleasure of staying at during my month in Colombia. They will go the extra mile to ensure you are enjoying your stay and give ample suggestions on activities during your stay. Fresh & filtered water and even hot showers available as well.
One of the best stays we had in Colombia! Very friendly and helpful staff. We were the only accommodation on the whole hill and had a beautiful sunset view with a bonfire. The house was very clean and well prepared against mosquitoes. We really enjoyed the stay, highly recommended!
The couple that ran this hotel are very accommodating and helpful. The room was spacious and clean, and the bed was comfortable. Location was very close to town but far enough away that it was not too noisy. Safe neighbourhood to walk around in lots of restaurants close by.
A really perfect located hotel in the middle of nature. A short walk from the (small) village. Very pleasant and nice staff to help you with everything you need. A place were you can relax from the more crowded other Colombian places.
Exceptional view with wonderful Garden and Ambiente! The hosts were just as wonderful as the view is and extremely helpful. This was my best nature experience I have had in Colombia so far. Definately will come back.
Our overall experience at Sol de Minca was amazing. The quality of the food (the best food we've had) and the view of the mountain and the city at night were our two top highlights of Colombia.
