It was a very short stay but it was obvious it is a very special place managed by hosts that go the extra mile to make you feel at home and with all the comfort. So we loved our host Martin and his big heart, the house and its rural coziness and harmony, and the breakfast with its tasty flavors!

We were travelling from the Algarve to Santander to catch...
We were travelling from the Algarve to Santander to catch the ferry to UK. This was a perfect place to stopover as it was about 2/3rds of the journey. We set off mid morning, arriving around 1900, in time to relax with a drink on the lovely terrace before dinner in the dungeons (excellent meal - best to book your table online with the castle directly). After a leisurely breakfast, it was an easy 3.5 hour drive to Santander to catch the afternoon ferry.

An excellent mid point stop between The Algarve and Santander The dinner was truly memorable in a beautiful dining room, so lack of fellow diners was a bit of a mystery. The castle itself was of considerable interest.

The castle has been lovingly restored, with excellent attention to detail. The staff are attentive and courteous. Plenty of space to exercise the dog, being able to see the horses was a bonus. The pool is a real asset in the heat of the summer, with a great view up to the castle. Good food & wine.
