Nice chill getaway from bustling Singapore on a budget.
Nice chill getaway from bustling Singapore on a budget. It's a very commercial town with not many things to do. Great food, great people, beautiful sights and some light hikes. Not great for beaches though. If you do decide to have a dip, take note that many people there are very conservative in dress-wise. I wouldn't recommend a bikini.

This village is visited by desperate workers from Singapore looking for sleazy sex. If you happen not to and you need to stay over weekend with them, you are seen just like another one of them. Beside, there is nothing much to do except eat nice nasi padang.

This town and island is for the curious adventurer and those interested in local culture. Its easy to get around on foot to explore the multi-layered urban environment, but we had two excellent drivers who took us around the island to hunt for freshwater/marine fishing spots, beaches, villages, post-apocalyptic abandoned mega-constructions and the countryside. Local food was great, the market was amazing, and the views from the Junior Suite were lovely.

A nice and comfortable place to unwind from work stress and doesn't cost very much compared to other indonesian cities. The people speak almost the same language as Melayu Malaysia which make it easier to communicate.
For eating out, the Radja Hussien Beach seafood Restaurant was very nice and reasonably price. Another cool eating place in town was the Foodcourt 22 which is also called Bingo among the locals. Muslim tourist has no worries about halal food in this city. Most of the shop assistants in the townshops are very friendly and persuasive. For public transport you can either hire a private teksi to cater you around or you can use Angkutan Kota like the tut tut...
