Actons Hotel Kinsale, hotel in Kinsale

Actons Hotel is a period building filled set landscaped gardens overlooking the beautiful Kinsale Harbor.

Comfortable, clean rooms and for European tiny rooms, it was larger than most. I was traveling with a friend and we were both able to have our luggage open at the same time. The hotel is large, not a small mom and pop Inn which I normally love but it was nice to have all the amenities and great location for walking to old Town and restaurants. Nice staff, and excellent breakfast. We traveled off season so everything was quiet. I would definitely stay here again.

Kinsale is a cute little town. Beware. Not easy to drive in. Good place to spend a few days.We used it as a base for going to Mizen head, Baltimore and other places south of Cork. Also note, and this is very common in Ireland, don't get up a the crack of dawn and expect to find a place open for breakfast. A few opened at 8 but more often opened at 9 and even 10. Earlier than 9 were few and far between. Those that are tend to be crowded for obvious reasons.

It was disastrous, my wife decided to go down the town for a walk around as she was walking she noticed foreigners watching her every move and they then started to pair up and follow her, she felt so threatened that she had to go into spar shop and wait for me to collect her. Would never visit there again.

Kinsale is a fantastic town for a weekend away.

Kinsale is a fantastic town for a weekend away. There are several excellent restaurants where you will have unforgettable experiences. The Black Pig and Finns Farmcut are amazing. Breakfast can be hit or miss, The Lemon Leaf and OHK were excellent. If the weather allows the walk out to Charles Fort is lovely, with a pint of Murphy’s at the Bulmans. The views at the Old Head of Kinsale are breathtaking, and Garretstown Beach is stunning. The tour and tasting at Kinsale Mead is fascinating and a unique highlight. Be careful choosing where to stay, as standards are not reflected by star ratings, and the centre can be noisy. Parking is challenging with two hour max at the central car park, better at SuperValu but you’ll need to move your car overnight.

We arrived later in the evening but were welcomed wonderfully. If you drive to the hotel, know that parking is only what you find on the street. Our room was lovely and spacious and the bathroom was nice. There isn't an elevator available so if you are on the 3rd floor like we were, be prepared to pull your bags up the stairs. Be sure to book a paid breakfast with your room reservation. It was soooo good and one of the best meals we had in 2 weeks. A good breakfast gave us the energy to tackle a busy day. Kinsale is a lovely town and even mid-week on a foggy fall day, we loved walking around.

Kinsale is a picturesque hilly harbourside town with great shops and restaurants. We had beautiful weather enjoyed walking around the town and took the harbor cruise. There were lots of good restaurants (a few require reservations way ahead), lively pubs, and various take-away food options. We stayed 2 nights, but only had 1 full day to explore the town. The roads into town are extremely steep & narrow, so we were happy to be able to park once at our guest house and not drive again till we left. Taxis are almost impossible to find. We ate at Fishy Fishy (had reservations months ahead) our first night and at the Blue Haven Restaurant & Bistro the second night. The live music was great. We heard great things about the Ghost Tour, but didn't have time for that. Parking can be an issue so make sure your guesthouse/hotel has parking. Stop at the Tourism office for great suggestions.

Everything about the Blind Gate House made for a wonderful stay. The location was about a five-minute walk downhill to Kinsale. There was a large parking lot at the Blind Gate House which made it easy to park our car. The room was clean and comfortable. The breakfast was the best we have had on our Ireland travels (yogurt, fresh fruit, cereal, cheese, freshly squeezed juice, and a hot option) My husband and I really enjoyed our stay there.

Nice hotel in a breathtaking location with beautiful grounds and a stunning view of the estuary. Very quiet and secluded. Make sure to walk down to the water at least once during your stay. Decent room with a very comfortable bed; did I mention the view? :) and very friendly and helpful staff. Call the spa in advance for appointments (even if the online booking system says they’re full).

Melissa was a superhost!! Her place was full of playful art, just like her sparkling personality. She mapped out a bunch of choices of things to do. Her husband James was lovely as well. Kinsale is a charming town with super friendly people. I hugged my server Katey at the restaurant Fishy Fishy. We at at Bastion and had super service by Max, Helen, and Paul. And Charlie!

We had a large comfortable room with river views from the balcony. There was a fabulous choice at breakfast from fresh fruits, various cereals and yoghurts followed by a cooked breakfast of your choice. Best white pudding we have tasted. If you like walking there is a scenic walk from the hotel into the town of Kinsale with incredible views of harbour.

Great space if you are travelling with kids, gives you freedom to be able to relax with it out having the kids confined to a hotel room. Location is great as you are a short walk to some of the best restaurants Kinsale has to offer. The owner Michael was great to deal with and very helpful. My family and I will definitely be returning

Lovely welcome from all staff. Room was spotless and comfortable. Best breakfast experience. The pancakes and fried breakfast were amazing! Only stayed one night but would stay longer in the future if visiting Cork again. Two parents and two children in a family room worked well. My 7 year old said he liked our “hotel house” the best.

Hotel was in an excellent location and we found parking space for our motorbikes just outside. The staff were very welcoming and helpful. The room was spotlessly clean and the Nespresso coffee machine with free capsules was a great way to start the day. We had breakfast in the hotel which was of a high standard.

The room was quite cozy and comfortable, but quite small as one would expect in a European city. Bathroom was very clean. Coffee machine worked great, room was quiet, staff was friendly but not overly so. We did not eat breakfast in the hotel so I can't comment on that.
