For us this hotel offered the connivence of access to Landmannlaugar, and there are no other options for miles.
We had a bit of a unique experience in that we got upgraded to the neighbouring property, and ended up being the only ones staying in the building. It’s not often you get a hotel to yourself! We were then treated to a full breakfast buffet in the morning (included in the original price) laid out just for us. Made us feel quite special.
There was a ranger in the hotel in the morning that gave us very good advice and commented on our travel plans taking into account the current weather and expected changes. That was incredibly valuable!
The hotel had a common room where you were able to buy snacks and drinks late in the evening. The parking lot was huge.
Great location for exploring the highlands. The staff was very accommodating and helpful. The included breakfast was pretty good and the dinner was good as well. Rooms were comfortable, but not very big and the bathrooms were good size. Was convenient to have a gas pump out front.
A hotel at the end of the (civilized) world. More a hostel, but what to expect at this location. Perfectly located for all trips in the highland. Very friendly personal, Iceland food, enough beer - a perfect place before you leave civilization and go out in the wonderland.
Nice staff, professional ranger who help what to do and how to do, it is close to landmannalaugar and that was the goal. I thought this is just a low cost hotel but it was not. It was perfectly well managed and simple as Iceland itself.
great location, very good food, nice and very friendly personal. Located near to great places to explore in Iceland, great hotel for everyone who would like to save some time on road and better to invest to adventure )
The location is perfect if you're heading out the highlands. Also an ideal location if you're after the Northern lights since this hotel is pretty much in the middle of nowhere and there's absolutely no light polution.
The location was great for visiting Landmannalageur. The hotel was cozy with 2 dining options. One room had burgers and other grilled food. The second had larger dinners. The room was clean but basic.
The breakfast was a good Icelandic type of breakfast. Enough choice. Comfortable bed and room big enough. Bathroom was ok. Sauna in the hotel. Perfect place if you want to see the Northern Lights.
Everything! The facilities were warm and cozy, and the staff very pleasant and helpful. The rooms are snug with large luggage, although are above and beyond when in the Highlands.
The hotel is well located for hiking. The staff is very nice and there is a warm atmosphere in the common areas. Nice dining options. We enjoyed our stay.
Outrageously expensive. Very poor value for money. Tiny rooms. Only 5 minutes of hot water. Price of a 5 star hotel with the quality of a run down 3 star.
