A Symbol of Sicily
Edgy and eclectic, Palermo is a symbol of all that Sicily stands for. From buzzing Vespas to the bustling Vucciria market, it simply brims with life.
Wonderful Palermo Cathedral glows radiantly in the Mediterranean sun. Nearby is the city’s last Sicilian Puppet Theatre, and opposite is a palm-filled park housing Roman mosaics, though the best are in the archaeological museum. At one end is the Norman Palace, a government building home to the fabulous Cappella Palatina whose gold mosaics are absolutely breathtaking.
Equally magnificent are the gold mosaics lining 12th-century Monreale Cathedral on the city’s outskirts. Wander the cloisters and note the varying columns and capitals – each pair is different.
Palermo also has fascinating churches: 2 of the oldest are 12th-century San Giovanni degli Eremeti and San Cataldo, each with red, Islamic-style domes. Gesú Church has an incredible Sicilian Baroque interior, while La Martorana’s frescoes are awe-inspiring. A street away is Quattro Canti, a crossroads with a fountain at each corner.
Other attractions include round Teatro Massimo, Mondello beach and Monte Pellegrino mountain overlooking the sea. You get fabulous views of this picnic spot as you fly into Palermo Airport before heading to your Booking.com accommodation.
Vibrant and interesting city with striking architecture.
Vibrant and interesting city with striking architecture. People are friendly and proud of their city. The street markets are fun to visit and offer traditional, local food at great prices; there are many nice restaurants with where one can eat well and reasonably. The historic center can be easily visited by foot making a car unnecessary. Monreale Cathedral, Cefalu, and Agrigento (Valley of Temples) can be easily visited by booking separate tours or private transportation if one doesn't have a car. The traffic is chaotic, especially motorcycles and scooters, so pay attention and use the crosswalks!

Enjoyed the many historical sites.
Enjoyed the many historical sites. Street trash is everywhere and graffiti and broken sidewalks Sad to see beautiful historical buildings poorly maintained. Felt safe and very walkable. Uber worked great when needed.

Fantastic City with great bus transport and lovely people.
Fantastic City with great bus transport and lovely people. The food was excellent. Our favourite place to eat in the day was Capo Market and we enjoyed fantastic seafood there and there was a fantastic atmosphere. In the evening there are loads of choice of eating places in lovely squares around every corner. The city comes alive at night and looks completely different from the slightly decayed look of the city during the day. Although the city has lost its lusture of days gone by, it is full of history character and charm. Make sure you visit Monreale and make sure you visit Mondello Beach. You can get to both of these places easily by bus.

Palermo is a city with so much history as evidenced by the many thematic walking tours. So many monuments, churches, even markets to explore as the city is famous for 'street food' Italian for ... 'street food' :) We walked alot but our first day there was a holiday - May 1 - so we did not experience a full lively Palermo until the following day. If I were to return I would take a historical walking tour to learn about the many civilizations that came to this island and the resulting languages - dialects - that apparently still change from neighborhood to neighborhood. Sicilians are proud of their country and in Palermo they are proud of their city - their pride is contagious!

The architecture, the cultural attractions, monuments,...
The architecture, the cultural attractions, monuments, theatres, churches, classic fountains from so many cultural influences was magnificent. It is a completely different sort of holiday in that your days are filled with trips to view their wonderful history. Food is varied but a wonderful culinary experience at good value prices. Restaurants are everywhere!
So different from tasteless high rise hotels in beach resorts with swimming pools!
Palermo & Sicily has character.

Went to Palermo with intention of seeing the Norman mosaics.
Went to Palermo with intention of seeing the Norman mosaics. We saw them but I advise people to be aware that entry to Palazzo dei Normanni is not necessarily available at times tourists might expect so be aware.
The best meal we had there was dinner at I Cucci, Piazza Bologni. Great food at about 50 euro a head with wine
Amazing host, very helpful and friendly. She made us feel right at home and gave us very useful tips. We could also store our luggage at the hotel before check-in and then found our luggage already in the room when we came back. The location was perfect if you want to reach all the nice areas by foot for evening and dinner, on top of that there are bus stops to Mondello beach and airport right in front of the apartment. There is also a very lively street food market just 100 m away where you can enjoy nice Palermo evening.
Great location, gorgeous rooms, just renewed and looking amazing, with spectaculos view, 3 types of sound isolation so you can sleep and rest the whole night like a baby being really in the heart of Palermo. Friendly helpful staff, have explained to us all that we asked and gave additional instructions and information. We had another place booked in Palermo and I would firmly recommend to everyone to stay at Palco - the best accomodation you can have at the capital of Sicily.
I travelled with friends and my husband. The hotel is very beautiful, a refurbished palazzo in Palermo. The room was so beautiful! The service is outstanding, personalised, everything we needed was covered asap by WhatsApp. The rooftop is lovely. Everything is taken care of by the owner, Rosa, and her excellent staff. Excellent location walking-distance to the center and major sites of the city. We loved this place and hope to be back during our next visit to Sicily!
Thank you for such a wonderful stay. The boat is absolutely beautiful and Luana and Salvatore were the best hosts. We spent 2 days out sailing to some beautiful locations around Sicily. The hospitality was just amazing! Luana was a phenomenal cook as well. We got a flat tire on our rental car prior to arriving to the boat and Salvatore personally took us the day we checked out to a mechanic to help us get it fixed. We cannot thank them enough for the best stay!
Gianni and Monica are lovely hosts. The B&B is newly renovated and modern, spotless, and cheerful. The best bed pillows we’ve ever found in Italy! It is close to many good restaurants and located in one of the main boulevards of Palermo. Breakfast was over-the-top delicious, everyday including new selection of Sicilian pastries, as well as ham, cheese, fruit, and cereal. And of course, espresso and cappuccino and juice.
Hard to think of something. Sicily is horrible. I have been in at least 50 or 60 countries in the world. This is only comparable with a poor 3rd world forgotten country. So sad.
Even my 5 star hotel bedroom.was smaller than my bathroom. And the whole hotel had a rancid smell. Can't they spend on some deep cleaning? Does all the money has to go to their pockets?
We throughly enjoyed staying at Addimora Boutique Suites! The beds, linens, decor and everything really was top notch. The breakfast was amazing, especially the Sicilian pastries and fruit.
It was our first night in Italy and Palermo, we asked to stay all four days here because we loved it so much but they were unfortunately full!
Very nice boutique hotel in centre of Palermo conveniently located for the Mercato del Capo. Good service and facilities. The hotel's nearby parking was convenient and enabled us to leave the car and explore Palermo on foot (Google maps found the route after Waze tried to take us through the pedestrian market)
Perfect location. Tiny little apartment. Close to all the famous things in Palermo. Easy to get there from the airport. The best area to stay in Palermo. The hosts (Jimmy) were very nice and friendly, they give us lot of useful advices. The apartment is clean, big enough and had everything what is needed.
Beautiful old hotel. Staff was very helpful and welcoming. Large, plentiful breakfast in beautiful room. Wonderful central location for exploring Palermo. Great sauna and roof top bar and terrace. Best Negroni in all of Sicily (Rome and Amalfi Coast).
Hotel is in a central location, close to really nice restaurants and bars. Our room was very clean. We also got very friendly and helpful guidance from Federica. She gave us all the tips not only for Palermo but also for Sicily.
Silvia is an amazing host; she's knowledgeable, is always available and regularly anticipates any possible issues we may have as tourists. Her boutique hotel is super quaint, quiet, clean and in a great location of Palermo.
the property is extremely clean, stylish and has all the amenities you wish for. the host was very helpful and gave us all the required information. definitely one of the best stays I had in Palermo and Sicily in general.
This place was fantastic. Brand new and super high quality.
Very clean.
The host, Janna, is amazing. The breakfast gives you a local taste of Sicily.
I will definitely stay here again if I go back to Palermo.
The hosts were friendly. Being from England not every in sicily speaks English but they always try their best and use Google translate ect. The bedroom was clean. Overall it was an okay stay.
The hotel is perfect for one-night-stays if you arrive at the airport and travel to another city in Sicily. You can explore the city of Palermo by foot and try to relax in the crowded pool.
The rooms were great and you are with walking distance of the historic center of Palermo. The breakfast on the rooftop terrace was one of the best we had in Italy. Barbara was very helpful.
Everything is perfect, location close to main attractions. clean and comfortable. Breakfast is the best in Sicily (Maybe in Italy) and definitely the best hostess Mariella .
