Great location, close to Himeji Station and easy walking distance to Himeji Castle. We were only there for one day/night, so that was important. Room was bigger than hotel rooms we stayed in Tokyo and Kyoto so that was also nice and the bathroom was very modern and large

We got lucky and got upgraded to a twin room instead of a double, which I'm grateful for. The rooms are more spacious than your usual APA, which is definitely a plus.

Himeji has always been a favourite place to visit.
Himeji has always been a favourite place to visit. This is my 3rd or 4th visit. In cherry blossom season, it is nothing short of spectacular. In winter, it's not so green, but the gardens are still worth seeing and wandering through. The castle itself is worth every cent of the entry fee and one could easily spend 2 or more hours exploring all the nooks and crannies before even reaching the 6 floor castle. Climbing to the top is must, but remember you will need to take off your shoes (and the stairs are more like wide rung ladders, so hold onto the rails!
The eateries are also worthwhile visiting, with plenty of choice in the area between the station and the castle. We visited a Vietnamese restaurant at lunchtime - it was huge and totally empty apart from us, and the food was fabulous - we chose banh mi which was just as good as in its' home country.

Loved arriving on the train and as we exited the station in the evening all the Christmas lights on the wide Avenue running straight from station to the lit up Himeji Castle in the distance..just stunning. The castle is amazing and a beautiful garden alongside it. Lovely to stroll around.

Himeji castle is a must see.
Himeji castle is a must see. Extremely interesting and along with the associated park is a good 3 hour adventure. Free English speaking guides at the entrance will accompany you. Well sign posted with many displays along the route through the castle in English.

I have been here so many times.
I have been here so many times. The castle, Himeji Central Park, the aquarium.... there are so many wonderful places to visit, and at the same time, it is full of terrific shops and restaurants. I don't think there is anybody who would NOT have a good time in this pleasant little city.

The castle exceeded our expectations.
The castle exceeded our expectations. You can access the entire castle and grounds and it is more beautiful than any photo I'd seen of it. Also, the multitude of alleyways and shops is lovely, safe and fun

It is a lovely, but bustling little city.
It is a lovely, but bustling little city. The castle is within sight of just about every hotel. It is worth a day's visit. However, I would avoid it in August; it must be so hot inside, as most places probably were during the 1400s. HImeji Central Park is definitely worth a visit. There is convenient bus service, and the park is often open late on weekends. There is an aquarium, too. The city itself is loaded with old-fashioned shopping streets, closed to cars, and covered, a bonus in case you have forgotten an umbrella. It is indeed a shopping mecca. You will find everything imaginable, and near the castle, loads of old shops PLUS an open-air market that is loads of fun to browse. I am not sure whether it is open daily, so check the days/hours. Finally, there is an open, public space/park right in front of the station that makes hanging around the station area good fun. Several ice cream shops, crepe shops, loads of bread shops. The bread shop in the Hotel Nikko is particularly good, and it is a 15-second walk from the station.
My room was larger than many hotel rooms I've stayed in in Japan. The hotel location was really convenient as it was close to Himeji Castle and the nearby garden and museums and within walking distance of the train station. The buffet breakfast had a large choice of food and drinks and varied from day to day. The staff was very helpful. I could obtain a lot of useful tourist pamphlets and other information at the hotel. The hotel rooftop area had a view of Himeji Castle and I was able to eat there on a couple of occasions.
Room was clean, modern, and nicely laid out. It was convenient to be able to select what type of cleaning you needed on the room TV. Bed was comfortable. Pyjamas and bathroom amenities were provided. Staff provided good service and were able to explain parts of the hotel policies in English as well as Japanese. This hotel was located really conveniently next to the station and not too far from Himeji Castle. I would stay at this hotel again.
Great location if your main purpose is to visit the Himeji Castle, as it’s located 5min walking. The hostel is inside a shopping street market, very convenient to eat out or buy things.
The main train and bus station are also close, just 10-15min walking.
The bed was comfortable and private, the common areas were ok.
Good facilities. Hotel might be old but it is well maintained. Public bath is exceptional. Breakfast is good. About 10 minutes walk to Himeji Station. Lot's of local travellers staying in the hotel hence why most signs/instructions are in Japanese but staff is ready to assist. Will definitely stay again in the future.
Well situated close to the station and the centre of the city. Only a 15 minute walk to the castle.
Hotel was spotlessly clean and the staff were very friendly and helpful.
The room was very comfortable and had everything in it you would expect to find in a modern hotel. Breakfast was included in the price.
I stayed in this hotel with my family (including kids 4 and 7). The location is really good, a walking distance to trainstation, center, castle… Breakfast was diverse: both Japanese and internationl (it took some time for our kids to get used to Japanese food so they really liked the breakfast in this hotel).
Views of Himeji castle were really nice. A short bus and short walk from the station. Seriously good value for money. A huge room and huge bathroom, much much larger than anything else we’ve stayed in Japan. The staff were very welcoming and helpful. The free breakfast was great.
The host went out of her way to let me drop off my bag before check-in time. Even gave me a little snack after checking in. Probably the best welcome I had so far travelling around Japan. The distance from the station and Himeji Castle was perfect too.
Satisfying all around, kind of the usual Japanese business hotel. Not many other options in the area.
A few minutes walk to the Himeji station, also close enough to walk to the castle and other places in the center of the town.
Great location with both Himeji castle and himeji station in walking distance. The hotel is very clean and the rooms nicely sized with good amenities. We were sad we only booked for one night.
Great location, super close to the station and not far away from the castle. Also a lot of restaurants in the area.
Also there's a coin laundry at the hotel, which is great
Very nice staff and comfortable rooms, I would stay here again. The walk to train station and Himeji Castle were fine, and they stored luggage for half day. 7-11 next door.
Fabulous breakfast, especially with a view over Himeji to the castle and hills. Excellent location next to the station. Room a little smaller than expected.
Lovely Japanese style hotel with its special charms.
Breakfast is fantastic. I didn't know what to choose.
Amazing japanese style Hot spring was good, too
