Comfortable, clean with lots of amenities. Loved the option of it being pet friendly! We adventure with our fur baby as much as we can, and it’s so nice to be able to stay somewhere that allows her to come. We also loved the warm coffee table. It was a pleasant surprise as we have never experienced one before.

There is a more to explore here than we realized. Apart from hiking up hills for great views, we did not budget enough time for more sight-seeing. We had wanted to visit a wasabi farm but wound up at a wasabi market which was really cool with lots of wasabi based products - that was an experience in itself. Probably best explored by car.

It was a lovely small town, a welcome change from busy cities crowded with tourists. Very relaxing, beautiful hot springs in the middle of town, a charming temple and shrine surrounded by huge cedar trees. We stayed twi nights and really enjoyed it. From Shuzenji station you can take bus to a viewing area where if the weather conditions are right you can view Mt Fuji.

Izu is a beautiful coastal city. I like the quiet streets over there. Like a wide variety of fresh seafood. Like to enjoy the magnificent scenery of Mount Fuji in Izu Panorama Park. I like this visually pleasing place,

A car or bike is really essential to get around, and see the the sights, as buses may only run a few times each day. Doi Gold Mine is an excellent working museum, lots to see and touch, even handle the pure gold ingots weighing 12.5kg. You can even do some gold panning. 400 metres of caves have been prepared as an example of the old hand-dug mines, 30 cm per day. Mihama beach is great for families, sheltered, with good facilities, and the nearby Heda museum documenting Japan-Russian relations. Lots of small coastal towns, with some places to stay, though many restaurants close early, and there are very few convenience stores, meaning you need to stock up and plan your trip and meals. Food is mainly sea food, izakayas, the odd Italian and Chinese restaurant, and some tea/ coffee shops. Not really a culinary hot spot. Beach restaurants serve ramen, hot dogs, yakisoba, and other fast foods. Quite a few abandoned places, relics of the bubble era.

public transport is very difficult, expensive and quite rare, make sure to check timetables (all in japanese by the way) because you can end up waiting hours for the next bus. But very beautiful and many many things to see so leave a lot of time and maybe rent a car if you can

Good parts: The seafood is fantastic. Bad parts: The Toi sakura is a little disappointing for the volume is far from enough. And the traffic is not so convenient considering most buses only come once an hour.

The ryokan is beautiful. We stayed in a traditional Japanese-style room, with breakfast and dinner included. The food was tasty and unique, and the service was attentive and caring. We informed the management team about our dietary restrictions, and they accommodated us wonderfully. The system to reserve a private bath was simple and easy to use, and the private baths were great! We would love to come back when we visit the area again.

The hotel was what we expected, a bit run down and old fashioned, difficult to get to except by car. Once inside we changed our minds quickly. Although the staff did not speak English, they were very kind and did everything they could to try to communicate, the environment was warm and familiar. But what made us realize how great this place was were the dinner and breakfast, traditional and AMAZING, these alone were worth the trip

Best accommodation in Shuzenji if you want to explore the Izu Peninsula. The hostel was amazing, the facilities were very clean and you can use them whenever you need. Ryohey was such an amazing host, he knows many good spots around Izu, he also gave me directions to get to some of them (thanks my friend). If I am around the area again I'd definitely stay here.

Staff are very kind. Food is the greatest I have ever had considering the onsen hotels I have stayed before. The view from the room is like traditional Japanese style garden. Very relaxing experience! The manager gave us a ride back to Shuzenji station, and along the way the manager tried to use translator to chat with us. Really nice experience.
