There was a lot to love about Relais de Mantadia, starting with the property itself, which is gorgeous. It's also well situated to go visit the places where you can spot lemurs in the area.
The hotel is super new, so everything is in great shape and common areas are very well designed. It was hot when we were there, but I imagine the fireplace in the dining hall would be amazing when it's cool out. And speaking of dining, the food was spectacular. The pool was lovely as well.

This is one of the most comfortable beds I have slept on. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We even saw a chameleon outside our room.
It's all about the parks. The actual town of Andasibe is nothing to write home about. Mantadia National Park is primary (un-logged) forest with tons of vines, dense forest, and very tall trees, but you need 4WD to get there, which cost us 150,000 ariary ($40 USD +/-). Analamazaotra Reserve is secondary forest, not as dense as Mantadia, better for wildlife viewing. Lemur Island is worth doing, too, if you want lemurs to climb on you. To do all three will cost about 650,000 ariary. The nearest ATM is in Moramanga, about 30-45 minutes away, so stop there and get cash on the way to Andasibe.
