This accommodation ticks every box. It was so far ahead of other accommodation we have stayed at during our South Island stay, with similar rates. It had everything and more we needed. Nespresso coffee machine, dishwasher, washing machine and dryer topped it off! Lovely linen and tastefully decorated. Highly recommend Tides Bar and Restaurant across the road too for a lovely meal.

I can recommend Pomeroy's Cafe.on the opposite side of the Square for their delicious matcha laites. Nelson's many art gallerys are enough to satisfy the most avid art lover with the delightful, meandering walk out through Queens Gardens to Nelson's Suter Art Gallery and cafe, always a highlight.

Nelson is a lovely town, with beautiful hanging baskets and old, unique architecture, close to Tahunanui beach, which is lovely. The Saturday market is great and wandering around Nelson town is fun, there are some good small specialty shops. I enjoyed the museum and the Suter Art Gallery and Queens Gardens. It is also a great base to visit both the Marlborough and the Tasman regions.

The Art and Crafts I saw were excellent.
The Art and Crafts I saw were excellent. The Suter Gallery was a highlight, and I enjoyed the Cathedral. I really enjoyed the walk up to "the centre of N.Z" and the views from there. I had some very good food and liked looking at the architecture - e.g the villas and transitional villas in The Brook. Founders Park and Miyazu Japanese Garden were great. Also, having a craft beer at "The Free House", a church that has been converted into a drinking place( and painted with fun colours) was wonderful.

Friendliness and facilities were so nice.We had a lovely balcony with table and chairs.Near the beach. The lady I Ispoke to on the phone requesting a bath also came to greet us and she remembered me from our phone call and said enjoy your bath you deserve it. She must have remembered when I spoke to her previously we were going to be tired as we had come from a month of entertaining friends and family. This got us off to a great start. Then we were so happy to see how lovely our unit was.A Wonderful stay
We had a 2nd floor room w/ balcony overlooking the marina- loved the view. Room had microwave, frig, hot water kettle and French press. Nice common dining room w/ continental breakfast provided. Belinda ( manager) couldn’t have been nicer. As was the cleaning staff. Short drive to downtown Nelson, or the other direction to good waterfront restaurants. Bonus was sweet cat, Tiddlywinks, who came around for pets. I would ask for room facing the waterfront- I would not have liked the courtyard facing rooms.
Staying with Paulina was one of the highlights of my trip. I adored my time with her, and our conversations in the morning over breakfast. The house itself is older but well taken care of and has so much character. The garden is phenomenal, and I would do my stretches there in the evening after wonderful full days of exploring the Nelson area.
My room also had a toaster oven so it was quite nice to have the option to do some falafel salad dinners in the room to save on eating out all the time.
The Nelson Hotel is trying to be a Top Quality Hotel BUT is not quite there. The design set-up of Hotel Buildings tends to cause noise rebound & with many young Backpacker type guests staying in some units the noise levels were strong.
A "With Out Notice" event with fire crackers went on for nearly 2 hours. At first my wife & I thought it was gun fire & some one running amuck with an M-16 gun & we turned off all the lights. After Christchurch & Port Arthur you never know these days.
Truly, this studio was a bit of heaven on earth. The location is exceptionally beautiful with the views over the bay. Having breakfast with those views was amazing. The hottub was great after a long day of hiking. The hosts are really friendly and like to talk about the neighborhood. You also get greeted by their cat Pablo. Would definitely go there again if we ever visit Nelson again. 11/10 would recommend
breakfast fine, the rooms were quiet, airy, very well appointed, separate access, lovely and light with lovely views. The insulation was great so we didnt hear family noise. Sam and Pete were thoughtful and easy to be around. Not intrusive but very helpful and generous with their time and good advice. Trails End was well positioned for both Nelson and Tasman Bay.
Central to the city space…. Cathedral, many walking tracks, River Walks, Restaurants, Bars, Botanic Garden, Nelson Art Gallery, Saturday Markets. Don’t need a car if your adventures are centrally located.
Hotel is now 50+ years old and iconic to Nelson. She is central, rooms large, comfortable and slowly being reconditioned. Staff were just lovely.
We really enjoyed the property gardens, outdoor seating areas, the attached pub and restaurant, and the paved walkways on the peninsula. The ambiance of the old English style was beautiful. We greatly appreciated the option to purchase a late check-out. We easily walked to the airport from the hotel with a rolling suitcase.
The hotel was located in the perfect spot to walk everywhere in the Nelson CBD. The room was very comfortable, as was the bed. It was also great to do our washing and be able to hang it out on a line in the fresh air. We had one breakfast in house and it was very nice.
I arrived early and though I hadn't requested it, the friendly manager let me in early. The location is great and most of the place was clean. The bed was comfortable. If I return to Nelson, I would stay in the same place just because the manager was so nice and kind.
The breakfast was always plentiful, tasty and well presented. The host was very friendly and helpful. She was always ready to give us good suggestions. The location was handy to Nelson City and a number of walks nearby, like to the Centre of New Zealand.
Excellent facilities regarding cooking and TV channel which already higher quality than a five star hotel - Netflix Disney + and large screen to compatible with the room size plus self service cooking facilities
Friendly staff
Spa bath is very cosy
The staff were amazing and so accommodating
Even changed our Australian money for New Zealand dollars.
Location is perfect and when I go back to Nelson I wouldn’t stay anywhere else!
Thanks for everything Palms Motel
Cheers Joanne and Michael King
The view from the house is to something to die for. Probably the best view of Nelson. The design of the unit is unique, has character. The owners left a detailed manual, had a personal touch to it. We loved it.
Great sized room on a corner so plenty of light.
It was close to many cafes, restaurants, bar and the beach.
God location for walking and only 5 minutes to downtown Nelson.
Would definitely stay again.
Good facility for roaming the Abel Tasman/Nelson. First taste of NZ hospitality. Accurate recommendations and directions (loved Rabbit Island and bay view).
