The hotel offered more facilities than we expected. Dining room staff for dinner were excellent. Delighted at large dining room. Excellent breakfast. Only problem with room was the bathroom was far too small. Room was warm and cozy.

Great value for money with the Ruapehu Unit. Most impressed, everything we needed and nothing we didn't. Would definitely use again

National Park walks were stunning and the area truly deserves its World Heritage status. You could choose the difficulty and timing of your hikes. Easy to find your way round. Use some sandfly repellent and soother on hikes as you might be bitten. The bites are not pleasant and take a few days to stop itching. We had great accomodation which allowed us to self-cater- so no restaurant reviews.

It's a decent small town in the middle of no where in rural nature. Close to the National Park town and Tongariro/ Ruapehu mountains. No real commodities in terms of gas stations and shops however but the National Park Town is only 5 minutes away.

It wasn’t what I expected.
It wasn’t what I expected. They couldn’t find or confirm my booking. The room that was offered to me was made up in a hurry. The cost was more than what was expected via Booking.com. I ended paying $20.00 extra.

We again had a very comfortable and relaxing stay at the lodge on our return roadtrip from Wellington to Auckland. It's perfectly located right in centre of the national park in peaceful surroundings and minutes away from the railway station. Leana, the manager once again welcomed us warmly. Our room was very well appointed, cozy and the bed was super comfortable allowing us a good nights rest. The adjacent toilet and bathroom facility within the block were easily accessible and kept very clean and tidy. The kitchen too is quite spacious with all required appliances kept in good conditon along with lots of quality cutlery to use. It really felt like a home away from home and we would without hesitation recommend staying at the Raurimu lodge. We will definitely return on our next trip to the national park and explore the region for a longer duration.

Raurimu is conveniently located 6 km from National Park Village, particularly if you have a car. There are no shops close by but a small supermarket and places to eat in the Village. It was perfect for us for access to the Tongariro Alpine Crossing, which was a challenging but amazing day trek. Lots of beautiful walks in this area and very scenic driving around.
