Salzburg is a great city.
Salzburg is a great city. The castle is a must see via the funicular railway up to the top with spectacular views over the city and beyond. Across the river is the Mirabell Palace and gardens which is a beautiful area to sit or explore. We enjoyed sitting outside the Glockenspiel cafe for coffee in the morning and a refreshing drink in the afternoon.

Everywhere you look in Salzburg there’s a spectacular view. The city deserves 56/10. Everyone should visit Salzburg at least once - or ten times - during their life!

Highly recommend going to the Eagles Nest (The Kehlsteinhaus), it’s a short bus ride and you can walk up from The Documentation station without paying insane guided tour prices. I love Salzburg. It is beautiful in any season. The old town with its churches, galleries, coffee shops and magnificent castle on the top of the rocks. We took the Festungbahn to the castle and had a lovely dinner with a view on the top of the rocks. We also strolled through the old town and took part in the 10 k Hervis run so we could see the mountains and the residential parts of Salzburg. We arrived by train and the journey was quite quick and easy. We had late breakfast at Café Tomaselli. Great coffee and cakes with a view from a balcony.
