Superb room with spa bath.
Once you ask reception to activate the bath you can soak sore feet and muscles from walking the Camino.
The location was on the Camino and a stones throw from the castle and plaza. There is so much to see and do in Ponferrada and you are spoilt for choice for places to eat and drink. We took a walk into the centre and had a Chinese meal. Wonderful place to stay, just a shame we only had one night as up early for Camino the next day. We would recommend staying for more if you have the time.
Offering a restaurant, Hostal Virgen de la Encina has free WiFi, a terrace and a 24-hour front desk. Located in Ponferrada, the property is 2 km from Ponferrada Train Station.

Difficult to review this place. Is a little out of town. So it was quiet. Room was nice, clean and comfortable. Breakfast was good. We spoke with owner on morning of our departure and he was friendly and keen to explain how to get back on to the Camino route. Bike storage in the hotel.

I loved the City it was clean and well maintained.
I loved the City it was clean and well maintained. I got lost and a kind Spanish man helped me get back on the Camino.
This man walked with me for 4 kilometres until we found the Camino TRAIL.
Ponferrada the City should mark the Camino trail better than they have. Even signage within the city saying “Camino that way. A few other city residents did not have a clue on how to get back to the Camino. The Knights Templar Castle was a sight to see.

Wonderful Temple knights history, well described during...
Wonderful Temple knights history, well described during castle visit. Impressive past and great attraction on Camino de Santiago for the thousands of Pilgrims now walking or cycling. An important part of old Spanish history.
This hotel is doing everything right. The staff (especially Fran) were helpful and pleasant, the room & bathroom were both clean, modern and comfortable, the room was warm when we arrived (yay! many places on the Camino have been freezing cold!), it was very quiet - we didn’t hear a sound from outside or from adjacent rooms, lots of hand sanitizer around. We didn’t check out the kitchen but apparently there was a microwave available. Location is very near the old centre.
There was absolutely nothing to like about this hotel. A cross between The Shining and a horror movie. No food on site, except a vending machine. No place to find a meal. Staff didn’t even try to help with that. We checked in, paid. Then the staff disappeared and we were unable to contact anyone for help. The place was deserted. We called a taxi and found better accommodation elsewhere.
Great location in centre of old town, near restaurants and bars. Neat and clean rooms, although there was mould in the shower. Reasonably easy access from Parking Público Plaza del Ayuntamiento, although you could probably drive into the main street to unload bags. Ponferrada has a small historic centre and castle. One night is sufficient.
it was a great hotel with its facility but if you are walking the Camino , the place was about 20-30 min walk to each the Camino path. The only close place to eat was McDonald across the street, there was a supermarket but it closed in th evening (8pm) and on Sunday.
The room was as expected. Stuff very nice and the location it's perfect, places to eat dinner and breakfast nearby. The hotel contact us to give us instructions how to enter after the hour on the check in and was very clear. Recommended for short stays!
Nearby Castle Ponferrada, staff super friendly and helpful, she told me Castle with Camino passport only cost 4 euro, Wednesday free entry, I really enjoy stayed in Albergue Guiana, relax, clean, comfortable and modern design.
The hotel is in a great location, close to the main attractions and lots of cafes and restaurants. The underground parking was great for the motorbike and just a short walk to the hotel. The staff were friendly and helpful.
I need a place to stay. It was listed on bookings.com the price was good.
It was clean, and the hotel organized my key. I would have liked to try the restaurant and the terrace.
location was very good and the staff was great
for Camino Pilgrims there was a laundry 1 block from the hotel and the hotel was on the city exit for the Camino
Nice hotel good price in a very nice location here at the centre. Walk-in distance to the basilica of our lady de encina, nice town very romanic arquitectural.
Big modern soulless hotel, but served the purpose, Very secure parking, only 20 minutes walk from the castle, old town area. Quiet location, easy to find.
