Spruceholme is the splendid former home of George Bryson Jr., his wife Helen Craig and their nine children. Built in 1875 by George Bryson Sr., this large stone mansion was lived in by the family until 1937. Following in the footsteps of his father, who served for 21 years, George Bryson Jr. represented the Pontiac County in the Legislative Assembly of Quebec, where he served for over 49 years. Adjacent to Spruceholme is another splendid stone mansion. This house was once the home of John Bryson, the older son of George Bryson Sr., who represented the Pontiac as an MP under Sir John A. MacDonald, who visited the home. After 1937, Spruceholme was used in the summer months by the Bryson family. In 1996, it was purchased by Glenn and Marlene Scullion, who transformed it into an inn. In July 2012, the great, great grand daughter of George Bryson Senior, Jane (Toller) Pitfield, purchased Spruceholme. She had visited her grandmother Frances (Bryson) Toller there in the summer from 1954 to 1972.
