Set in Schwangau, 1.7 km from Neuschwanstein Castle, AMERON Neuschwanstein Alpsee Resort & Spa offers accommodation with a fitness centre, private parking, a terrace and a restaurant. We enjoyed the location of the resort being so close to the castles. It has lovely view of the lake. The staff were very helpful in providing information on walks nearby and how to get the on the day Neuschwanstein castle tour tickets.

Hotel Maximilian’s is a historic hotel located in the heart of Augsburg, a 10-minute walk from the Fuggerei Museum. It features elegant rooms and suites and a restaurant with show kitchen. More or less everything. Excellent welcome and very helpful staff. Excellent room, very large and quiet and well heated (it was winter). Even though we were on the main street, the acoustic insulation was quite OK, and no noise came from the street or elsewhere. Large and perfectly functioning bathroom. Excellent breakfast in a large and nice room with plenty of choice (even real orange juice, for a change). Parking very close and easy to reach from inside the hotel. Very good location to walk downtown. On the whole, a recommendable 5 star hotel: expensive, not tremendously fancy (and we don't like too fancy hotels which charge for silly things), but overall worth it.
Romantik Hotel Markusturm

This family-run hotel offers free WiFi in all areas and rooms with balconies overlooking the Allgäu Alps. We arrived early by car. Onsite free parking was a big plus. We were allowed to check into our room several hours before check in time. The staff was most friendly and accomodating. Walking distance from the hotel lies the Old Town of Fussen. The ‘Rewe’ grocery was just a short walk away. Most impressive was the breakfast both in presentation, variety and taste. We would definitely book here again when we return to Fussen.
