Located in Brunswick, 42 km from Portland Observatory, The Federal provides accommodation with a fitness centre, free private parking, a restaurant and a bar. The Federal was a beautiful hotel with lovely art work and a cosy comfortable foyer. The rooms were equally good. comfortable beds, spotlessly clean and with well designed bathrooms. The staff were friendly and helpful and were very welcoming.

The bathroom was spacious and the complimentary toiletries were of a high quality. Very kind and helpful staff. We loved the mix of modern and antique furniture and decorations.

Staff - Very helpful and friendly staff. Always greeted with a smile and eager to answer any questions. Showed interest in how our stay went. Definitely appreciated her thoughtfulness. Room - Looks newly renovated and very clean (including shower facility). Beds were super comfortable. Breakfast - Good variety and generous servings. With breakfast from 6.30 am - 10 am, it provides our family sufficient time to catch the sunrise and still have time to enjoy breakfast leisurely. Was not crowded at breakfast room. View from the room - Great view; was able to see the harbor from the room. Provides a fantastic view of sunrise. Balcony - Good sized balcony with chairs for sitting. A perk for summer but did not utilize this time due to cold weather Temperature - Heater was not as warm as we would have liked it to be. To be fair, we also did not inform guest services until check-out when the staff inquired about stay. We mentioned it casually (not complaining). but she took our comments very seriously, was very apologetic and gave us a discount as a a way of compensation. Her attitude is amazing and impressive.
