Meeting Nori, Se Shiu, and all the other monks was one of the highlights of our trip; they made us feel really welcome anytime we met and were happy to answer our questions with insight and thoughtfulness, making it look easy when in fact they were always busy with keeping things in order. They also guide guests during the Okunoin Cemetery night tours and imbue it with a lot of meaning.

Jodo-ji Temple is 45 km from the ryokan and Shipporyu-ji Temple is 46 km away. this is a very authentic 真言宗 temple. the monks are very friendly, we feel cozy and being well taken care of. the food was very good! it’s close to the bus stop, literally a minute walk.

Staff were attentive and knowledgeable.
